This is how Luminati keeps its residential network safe, and a win-win for all
How do we get our residential IPs?
Luminati has an SDK that allows 3rd party apps to offer their users an appealing alternative to paying or watching ads — by choosing to become peers on Luminati’s residential network. This way, the users can choose an alternative to paying or watching advertisements, the app developer get paid by Luminati, and Luminati can offer its customers a larger and more distributed network.
Peers in Luminati’s residential network allow Luminati’s customers to use a few megabytes of bandwidth every day while their device is idle (not in use), and as long as the device is in charging or has more than 60% battery.
Any peer is asked whether he wants to opt-in and become a peer, and can easily opt-out at any time.

Who can use Luminati’s residential network?
Only companies that pass Luminati’s strict KYC (Know Your Customer) process successfully.
Prospects who wish to use Luminati’s residential network fill up a “Residential activation” form, in which they identify themselves by providing personal details (email, phone number, address, social profile, payment method and more) and sign an agreement in which they confirm that all their activity is legal. After their details are checked and verified manually, they may be approved.
Luminati’s systems and personnel continue to monitor the customer's activity to ensure that the usage is compliant with the agreement. This is how the form looks like:
